The Secret To Flawless Skin

“You’ve got such great skin”, “Your skin is so flawless”, are words we all want hear. I definitely don’t have perfect skin, but I do have a few ‘rules’ I live by.  I am sure genetics play a role in having great looking skin as you get older, but I believe the lifestyle you live and how you look after your skin definitely plays it part in having amazing looking skin, and aids in the anti aging process. Here are a few of my personal, tried and tested hacks. They won’t only be good for your skin, but will add to your overall well being. I highly suggest trying them out if you are looking to transform your skin and give it longevity…

 

1. BECOME A WATER JUNKIE

OK we have heard this one ad nauseum… so I’m not going to go into detail about it. I’m going to leave it here as a reminder for you to start drinking more if you aren’t already. Best advise I could give is to get a water bottle (glass is always best) and carry it with you religiously. That way when you are thirsty or feel like you need a snack you are more likely to reach for the water first, and are then able to make a wise decision if you really need that something naughty.

There are too many benefits from water to our body and skin to mention, but do you know, your skin is made up of 64% water! Keep hydrating it! Top tip: make lemon water, by adding some sliced lemon to your bottle of water. You can drink lemon water hot or cold. Believe it or not, lemons makes your body more alkaline (who would have thought!), our bodies thrive in a more alkaline environment.

2. NO SUGAR CHALLENGE

Sugar is a major attributer to aging…yip it is! It sucks, I know, because it is in everything, it is yummy, and it is super addictive. I know what you are thinking, because I hear it ALL the time. “There’s no way I can do that”, or  “I love my…..(enter what ever it is you love)……too much”, or  “That’s just not for me”. There really is no excuse to this one, it’s effects on your skin are highly destructive, if you are wanting flawless skin then it has to go.

Personally I don’t do things in moderation, so I have completely cut out sugar. I noticed a change in my complexion, my skin has more of a glow, and I’ve seen a noted change in the ‘redness’ I sometimes used to get… AND my energy levels have increased. I dare you to take on the challenge! Is it worth it? YES…and no, I don’t miss it, except for the odd glass of champagne which I always succumb to (on special occasions only).

3. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

My number 1 secret to having flawless skin! Drink 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar diluted with water, once a day. There have been seasons where I fell out of my normal habit in taking apple cider vinegar daily. When I start taking it again, without fail, I will have people commenting on my skin. This stuff is amazing, it’s health benefits are through the roof! It has the ability to detoxify and cleanse your liver giving your skin a smoother complexion. A few tips 1) try and find an organic, raw apple cider vinegar, you will most likely find it at a health shop 2) It’s always better to use a glass bottled product rather than plastic 3) You want the vinegar to have residue, the residue is called the ‘mother’ and contains beneficial bacteria 4) Make sure it is diluted with water when drinking.

4) SUN & SPF

Stay out of it…

where possible.

Keep sunscreen in your bag at all times. Find a foundation with a SPF in it, don’t even bother looking at the other products if it doesn’t have an SPF. Having an ‘amazing’ tan for one summer is not worth the damage the sun will do to your skin. Plus there are awesome self tanning products out there. The damage the sun does to your skin will not show in your 20’s and may not even show in your 30’s, but it WILL show in your 40’s. If you are pale skinned like myself, embrace your skin tone, pale is beautiful…like an English rose:-) Top tip: Apply the sunscreen to your face, neck and décolletage, as well as your hands, they are the first places to show signs of aging and are the areas which are most exposed to the sun.

5) GO MAKE UP FREE

Take a day, at least once a week, and go make up free. Let your skin breathe, give it a good clean, apply your toner and a great moisturizer, and go au naturel. Your skin will love you just that little bit more!

  1. Well it seems I am already following these lol. I am on keto so ✔ sugar free, I dont wear makeup unless its date night ✔, I dont go outside bc its too cold ✔! Lol just need to add some acv! Good post!

  2. These are awesome tips!! I notice a major difference in my complexion when I drink the right amount of water daily. Also, I notice I tend to get mire cystic acne when I eat more sugar too =\
